Concrete QC Technician — Level 1

Apply by emailEntry-level to experienced concrete quality control technician supporting field testing, cylinder casting, and lab work on IDOT, City of Chicago, and municipal projects.
- Cast, cure, and store concrete test cylinders per ASTM C31
- Break cylinders on a compression testing machine and record results per ASTM C39
- Perform fresh-concrete tests: slump, air content, temperature, and unit weight
- Maintain accurate field logs, sample records, and daily reports
- Coordinate with batch plants and inspectors during concrete pours
- Maintain and assist with calibration of testing equipment
- Follow all jobsite safety and PPE requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Willingness to learn cylinder breaking and field testing — we will train you
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work outdoors in all weather
- Reliable transportation to project sites across the Chicago metro area
- Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I (or in progress)
- PCC Level 1 – Portland Cement Concrete Technician certification (or in progress)
- Hands-on experience breaking cylinders and operating a compression machine
- Familiarity with ASTM C31, C39, C143, C231, C1064
- Prior experience on IDOT or City of Chicago construction projects
- On-the-job training for all concrete field and lab testing procedures
- Company-sponsored ACI Grade I exam prep and fees
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction (if not yet certified)
- Clear advancement path to Level 2 as certifications and experience grow
